Perry Takes Center Stage

Don't you wish you had a water fountain like the one Perry has? My mom won't even let me get up in the sink, let along drink from the 'magic fountain.' If you haven't met Perry on Twitter yet, you should stop by and say hello. Also if you would like to see more Movies starring this fine gent go here.

Thanks for stopping by,

Why Can't You Be More Like Your Brother?

Hi Everybody, it's me again, Henry!

Okay, before you go calling Animal Control, I must admit to you, that I have never heard my mom say that phrase to my face. I mean, after all, I am such a pawesome critter in my own right, why would anyone think that? Anywho.... Oscar said I did such a great job with last weeks Thursday Thirteen that I get to do another one. (WOOT!)

This week I decided to share with you....

Thirteen Ways I Am Different From OscarTheCat

  1. While Oscar has always been a slender fella, I myself am quite plump. Not in a bad way mind you, more like in the "Hunk a, hunk a Burning Love" kind of way. Before all you gals get too excited though, I should mention that I have been surgically altered. (Of course, that won't stop me from snuggling or sharing a nosetap with that special someone.)
  2. I love curtain rods. For the life of me, I cannot understand why Oscar will never go climbing with me. Climbing up to a curtain rod is a thrill like no other. Not only is climb exhilarating, the view when you get to the top, is breathtaking. From on top of the world I can see everything going on in my house. I even met some cool spiders that lived up by the ceiling. (They have since moved, but they were fun to play with for a while.)
  3. I'm a natural decorator. I like things to be a certain way, when I'm in a room. Oscar could care less.... BORING! This means I have no issues with moving anything and everything in the room. Like say books, for example. I think they look better on the floor than on some silly shelf. AND... Shelves are really comfy to sleep on.
  4. I like to drink my water out of the toilet. There, I said it. I feel no shame in this, in fact, I think I am really doing mom a favor, cause now she washes my water bowl a couple times a day. Oscar likes drinking out of a glass bowl or his water fountain. (Oh, Oscar told me to mention that I know how to open the lid all by my self, and that you shouldn't blame my mom for this..... (???))
  5. Contrary to popular believe, I am the nose tap king at my house. Oscar seems to have tried to convince our Twitter friends, that he's all about nosetap's. As if they were as natural as breathing for him. Not so! In fact, he hardly did them at all, until he saw how I was using them to bond with Mom. Such a copycat!
  6. When Oscar sits with mom at the computer, he sits on a chair next to her and takes a nap. I on the other hand, prefer to sit on the keyboard itself or wrap myself around her feet. I usually end up on the floor though since mom seems to feel I slow her down when I'm on the keyboard.
  7. Oscar is a talker. He'll talk to mom for long stretches at a time. It's all meow, meow this, meow meow that. These two seem to have worked out the obvious language barriers and chat up a storm. I, on the other hand, like to get straight to the point. Meow = Attend to me. Meep = Play with me. I do not like to repeat myself.
  8. I love making biscuits. I find that they are easy to make, wherever you go. A couple good kneads can even make the kitchen sink comfortable. Oscar never seems to make biscuits, and as a result does a lot of moving around to be comfortable. Can you say wasted energy?
  9. When Oscar gets scared he hides. Whether it's cause some cute kitten is chasing him or that the doorbell rang, Oscar seeks shelter behind the sofa, or under the bed. I on the other hand run for mom when I spooked. Should a certain cat surprise me by defending himself or if I hear some thunder, I seek the shelter known as mom.
  10. While Oscar seems to have several canine friends online, he doesn't seem to warm up to them easily face to face. He gets up in their noses and threatens to draw blood. He tells me that he has had a couple puppy housemates that were ok, but now that he's in his golden years, he would rather tweet with them than hang out. I LUV dogs! Dogs are fun to play with and I very good nap buddies.
  11. I am young and nieve, while Oscar is OLD and wise. Although, I don't know how tricking kittens into believing mom likes it when you pee on the mattress, is considered wisdom.
  12. Oscar tends to like his surroundings very clean. If his litter pan is even a little dirty he uses mine, oh and this guy actually puts his empty food containers in the middle of the floor, as if to tell mom to clean it up. I, on the other hand, like things messy, and mom says I'm a bit of a horder too. Seriously though, how does hiding four empty water bottles make me a horder? I mean come on, they make great toys, when all the rest of them get taken away.
  13. Oscar is a tripawd. When I first moved in, I tried to tease him about it, but it didn't do a bit of good. He says that it has never slowed him down a bit, and therefore, he could care less what other cats thought. He also says it makes him unique and special. Me, I'm just your typical everyday quadpawd. However, in this house I am the only quadpawd, so I guess that makes me kind of unique and special too. Am I right?
Well thats my 13 things. I hope you enjoyed my list. Oscar says that I will get to do one next week too. I wonder what I should write about?

Hello everyone. It's been another great week and were able to over 50 cats to our main list. Speaking of cool cats, we have a group of wonderful kitties to share with you tonight.

Or first guest tonight is LadyFuzz, who we've had the privilege of knowing for a while, here on twitter.

How did you find your forever home? (Or how did it find you?)

Oh, now that's a story. When I was a just-weaned kitten, I showed up at the house in the country where Mama's parents live - and threw myself at their back screen door just the way their last cat used to, years before. Startled them fluff-tailed by doing that! Grandpa chased me off the porch then - and threw water at me through the kitchen window when I tried to say "hello" the next morning!

He and Mama were working in the same place back then, so when he got in that day he told her all about the crazy kitten hanging around. Mama called Grandma and said go ahead and feed me, she'd be there at lunchtime to pick me up. She did, and took me right back to her apartment. Since then I've gone on two loooooong cross-country drives with her, lived with her in two different states and five apartments, and finally settled in the house where we live now.

What do you call the humans you live with?

My human is Mama. (Except when she's trying to give me a pill, in which case I call her something untranslateable from the original feline.) The other house-humans are honorary moms.

Is there anything else you would like your twitter pals to know?

Mama has a lot of silly nicknames for me - Boo (because when I was little I used to hide under furniture and grab ankles), Bootiful, BooBoo Fett, LadyFuzz, Fuzzbutt.

Also, when she "narrates" for me, I have a Southern accent for some reason, despite having been born and bred in Michigan and now living in Pennsylvania. It's because of an old Looney Tunes cartoon phrase that Mama decided fits me - "Cheese! I just love cheese, really I do!"

I share the house and house-humans with three other felines: Kiri (a 12-year-old male Egyptian Mau), Tavi (an 8-year-old male brown tiger), and Hanabi (a 3 or 4-year-old female calico).

We haven't known our second kitty very long, but Rumblepurr has proven to be one very adorable kitten.

How did you find your forever home? (Or how did it find you?)

Mummy asked daddy for TWO years if she could have me (she says she was just asking for a cat, but I know she was really waiting for me to be born) Daddy said yes, and mummy looked all over New Zealand before she and daddy decided on me! They flew me over from my breeder on the South Island, MightyQuinn Maine Coons, and now I love living in the North Island!

What do you call the humans you live with?

Mummy and daddy.

Is there anything else you would like your twitter pals to know?

Mummy says there is a story with my name. Daddy insisted that the second cat in the house would be named d'Artangan. When they saw my photo from the breeder, they just knew I was perfect for them . When I came to live with them, mummy gave me my last name. She says that I am Rumblepurr in name and nature - I'm just so happy all the time!

I'm really happiest when big brother pays attention to me. He's my best buddy, and I want to be just like him when I grow up (even if he is a Ragdoll!) I also lovebeing up REAL HIGH!!

One of our newest friends is KitschKat who comes from a big family and has many stories to tell.

How did you find your forever home? (Or how did it find you?)

In July 2002, I got rescued from Death Row at a shelter in New Haven, CT. I was there for three months and no one wanted me. My Mom volunteered to take me so I wouldn't get killed. She took me in as a foster. She was supposed to get a different kitty, but that kitty got really sick, so she got to have me, instead. When I got to her house, I wasn't feeling too good. I got really sick, too. I lost 3 pounds in a few weeks. I tried to be brave, but I eventually hid because I was so sick. I didn't want anyone to find me. My Mom searched for me and she realized I was sick so she took me to two Vets. One was really bad. He hurt me a lot, but I was too sick to fight. He put needles in me and gave me medicine. It took a long time, but I got better and finally went to my foster Mom's home. She made sure I was OK and did a lot to save my life. I gained weight back and my fur filled in really well. They shaved me down at the Shelter and everyone thought I had short fur. Boy, did I surprise them! My Mom's nickname for me is: Super Pouffy.

My Mom fell in love with me and adopted me on Christmas Day. I knew it. I had her when I first saw her look at me. I am a cutie.

What do you call the humans you live with?

Meow!

Is there anything else you would like your twitter pals to know?

I live with SIX other cats. I'm pretty much the boss of all of them, except for Bob Dole. He came here two years ago after someone died. Bob's bossy, but we get along ok as long as he doesn't try to rub up on me. Bob's cool for an old dude. Also. my Mom writes funny stories about me and my bratty siblings on http://www.coveredincathair.com Some times she posts stuff about cats that other people should know so it helps them keeps their cats safe and healthy. I think that's really nice of her to help out as long as she gives me more attention than that BLOG of hers. Oh, and my mom made a group photo pool for me on Flickr! You can join us, too...if you're FLUFFY! http://www.flickr.com/groups/superpouffy/

Our final guest this week is no stranger to twitter. He is a cats cat who works for his human as a a spokes kitty and model. I am very pleased to be able to let my pal BrewskieButt share a little more about himself.

How did you find your forever home? (Or how did it find you?)

A lady that was a school teacher picked me up on the side of the road when I was about 3-4 months old and took me to her classroom to find me a family. One of her students was the daughter of my person’s coworker, and the coworker told my person about me. It just so happens that my person was looking for a young kitty like me! She came to the school and picked me up. As much as I enjoyed those little humans in the classroom, I was SOOOOOO happy to find my forever family!

There were two other cats at my new home at the time, Slick and Noah. Slick was 9 at the time and had recently lost her lifelong companion, Bub, who had gone to the Rainbow Bridge. My person got Noah, who was the same age as me, to keep Slick company, but he was pretty rough with her. I proved to be a nice diversion for Noah, and we became best buds instantly. Slick has never really cared for either of us, and the feeling is mutual.

Who is another cat in our home that joined us last year. He is actually Noah’s brother, but he lived with my person’s mother for awhile until she had to go to a nursing home. Noah, Who and I are great pals. Of course, Slick doesn’t like Who any more than she does Noah and me.

What do you call the humans you live with?

I just have one human. Sometimes I call her “Mom”, sometimes “my person”. “Mom” is shorter to tweet and easier to fit into Twitter’s 140 character limit, but it sometimes throws my followers that aren’t anipals, so I use both. I also call her BZTAT, her artist name, or @BZTAT, which is her Twitter account name. She doesn’t Tweet as much as I do, though, because, well, I take up all the computer time, according to her…

Is there anything else you would like your twitter pals to know?

My nickname is “The Brew”, and I call all my Twitter and Facebook followers “The Brew’s Posse”. My Posse is full of the BEST anipals and Tweeple a cat can find!!!

I am a model for my person, mom, BZTAT, who is an artist, and I sometimes post on her blog http://bztat.blogspot.com . I am also the Official Spokescat for Art Adventures Studios (http://artadventuresstudios.com), a job that I take very seriously. BZTAT loves to paint critters, so she really enjoys all my anipals. She is working on a series of Twitter Critter portraits. She also has a special offer on pet portraits for the month of March 2009 for anyone in the Brew’s Posse! You can read about it here: http://bztat.blogspot.com/2009/02/news-flash-from-brewskie-butt-pet.html. Hurry if yer interested—must be arranged by March 31, 2009.

Recommend 5 of your twitter friends to our readers:

Only 5??? Well, it goes without saying that I would recommend the great @OscarThCat, whom I am really hoping will continue to drink from his fancy fountain and gain back the weight he lost during his recent illness. You are the KING among cats, O, so please, take good care of yerself!

There are lotsa lady cats that have really caught my fancy after all the dancing at the cat party and the paw pawty this week. To be a true gentleman, I will not name them, as then I might leave someone out and hurt their feelings. Instead, I will recommend some non-feline friends to avoid any “cattiness”. Some cool pooches are: the smiling @LouPeb; the regal (ahem)@Duke_Richard_II; and @louloupants, who had the funniest and most original pawty hat for St. Patrick’s Day! @CaplinROUS is perhaps the most unusual, yet cool and smooth critter on Twitter, and @RainyTheHorse is the guy who got us all comfortable with using the words “manure pile” and “#poop” on Twitter. He’s still miffed that his human took off with the pile he had been working on for such a long time.
